My relationship with George and Thelma began when I visited their home in Palmerston North when David was newly born. I am now 90 and have never lost contact with the family. George was so gracious and gentle toward all who knew him. I worked on the Manawatu Bible Carriage with Keith Rea while George was the secretary and to whom we sent a weekly summary of our movements. He was unfailing in His support and encouragement for the work of the Lord all his life. He was part of the eldership at Eden along with myself, George Lawson, Dudley Houghton, Archie Elliot. Bill McConnell, and Roger Crawshaw to name a few. It was a memorable time as Archie became the building manager of the new Eden Community Church being constructed.
George was a "squirrel". He had an incredible collection of all sorts of papers and Brethren Assembly books and papers, right down to the exercise books he had when a child at school in the South Island. I always wondered why they did not put their car in the garage when in the View Road house for some years. It was then I found out about George“s penchant for his version of historical documents. George was unique in so many ways. The family was/is a special part of my life and now but memories.
