George BURT Obituary

BURT, George Arthur. Died peacefully at Rotorua Hospital 5th January 2015. Beloved husband and best mate of Alison Isobel Burt. Cherished dad and father in law of Pete and Michelle, Phil and Louie. Amazing poppa to Hannah and Connor, Mikl? os and Osk? ar. Avid rugby fan and fisherman. Owner of Rotokawa Motors, Rotorua 1966-2007. In accordance with George's wishes there will be a private cremation. The family invite friends and relatives to gather to celebrate George's life at his home, 47 Gee Road, Rotorua, 2:00pm Friday 9th January followed by refreshments.

So sad was the phone call from my brother to us here in Queensland regarding Uncle Derek. I will always remember his sense of humour, sitting in his lounge chair, that big grin, and how he was always interested in what we had been doing, his warmth and soft heart always shon through. Our dearest thoughts are with Aunty Allison and extended family right now, love to you all. Alison, Thomas and Georgina Cross

Rest In Peace Uncle Derek (as I always knew him). Great bloke, genuine down-to-earth fella with a ready smile and a joke or two whenever we met (some of them good some not so good). When I was a kid always made me feel special talking to me like an adult, loads of patience and a dry sense of humour. Loved watching rugby with him on the few occasions I visited, passionate about his sport and quick with the quips. Stoic and always positive in the last years. Great guy
