Gavin BARNARD Obituary

Really sad news to hear that Gavin had passed. He was a great member of the royal oak squash club. I really enjoyed playing with him on Sunday afternoons, he will be greatly missed. Rest in peace mate, kia kaha to the family.

Dear Barnards, particularly Avis, Fiona and Chris, but including the various partners and offspring, I offer my deepest condolences and yes buckets of love as you deal with Gavin's death and burial. There are thousands of memories that will pass through your lives as you go about your living without him in the years to come. A favourite memory for me is his enrolment in February 1964 at Mangamingi School and it wasn't long before I realised that here was a lad with lots of talent. Little did I know the day would lead to a close association with his family Distance is the only thing that meant our
lives separated but I believe that contact made my life much richer as a result. Love to you all.

I certainly enjoyed turning up in the mornings and having a smoke with him before work, chit chatting about the day we had yesterday or the one we were going to have.
Gav always had a ready smile and was super helpful, I learnt many things from him that I've passed on to others.

My sincerest condolences to you all for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Gavin not long after he started with the AA. He was our go-to-guy for our buddy up sessions during our training inductions. Gavins methodical approach to his calls, made him the perfect Sensei for a new person learning our systems. I will miss his friendly smile, our hello's and how are you's when passing in the lunch room. His legacy and teachings will be remembered. His presence will be missed. Rest in Peace my friend

Gavin and I shared a two bedroom flat on Hine str New Plymouth back in the early 80s for a couple of years and he was an easy happy go lucky guy to live with in those younger times.His passing surprises and grieves me.He was a true genuine mate.Condolences and lots of aroha to Gavins whanau

Very sad to hear the passing of Gavin. He worked with me at the AA for many years and there was never a day that went by when we would have our chats in the lunch room. Always had time for Gavin, he was respected and loved by his work colleagues. I am going to miss him dearly xx rest in love
