FRANKLIN, Gary John. Passed away at home on 12th April 2019 after a short illness. Dearly loved husband of Paula. Inspiring and amazing father of Chris, Linda and Nicky. Father in law of Penny Sue, Harry and Glenn. Best Poppa of Candace, Leah, and Haley; Abbey, George, Ollie, and Daniel; Sara, Jessie, and Kate. "He will be missed so much" Gary's funeral service will be held at Christ Church, 1 Church Street, Russell, tomorrow, Tuesday 16th April 2019, at 11am. Followed by a private cremation. Gary inspired me to become a teacher. He taught me at Otamatea High School, 1969-1975. He was so professional and a thoroughly nice guy.

Just heard the news today and very shocked by it. Gary was a big part of my school age life, as a teacher, coach and mentor. He was an amazing man. I often still think about him and how he influenced me, even now more than 30 years later. My sympathies to Paula, Chris, Linda and Nicky - you should be so proud of what he did for so many people.
