Only become aware of this morning. He passed on my actual birthday as I turned 64, I was out snapper fishing in the Rangitoto Channel ... somewhere I´d been many times with Gary & my Dad Ray, his life long mate,as a boy. Gary was like a `larger than life Uncle´ to me. Rich memories of him as a young boy ... a smiling giant of a man whose gruff´ manner belied his totally decent nature. I think he would have loved this tray of snapper I got the day he left us, as young RNZN cadets paddled sea kayaks past us. From all the Humphrey Family. God Speed Gary.

Much love to my Grandma, Mum and Aunts at this time. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family. RIP Grandad.
