CLARKE, Frederick. Fred, my old mate, you chose such a significant day on which to leave us - 28 November. It's the day we sailed from Wellington in the S.S. 'Captain Cook' bound for Malaya, and exactly two years later, we boarded her again for the return trip home. Nowadays, our unit reunions are held as near to that date as possible, so will always be thinking of you as the boys gather together. We have had some great trips over the last few years, and I will miss you cooking those great meals we shared over a bottle of red, and also your 'navigational skill', and constant commentary. Thanks for your companionship and the experiences we shared. Now, for you my friend, no more suffering, and taking that daily cocktail of pills. Rest in peace, and enjoy the 'Band in the sky'. Your girl - Bill.
