It was sad for me to hear of the passing of Frank...I always called him Mr. Rose..that's how it was in my young days.
The last time we met was on the golf course at Okoroire Springs with his friend Ray Annan, quite some years ago.
Frank was a great friend of my Dad...Ralph Yardley.
I would sometimes visit him and Avril (just a lovely welcoming couple) at their home on Marine Parade Mount Maunganui, and we would reminisce about past times..Frank had an amazing memory and could even talk about how he knew me when I was a youngster on my Dad's farm at Okoroire.
Frank could remember the night before he was married when Ralph,Jim Seton and a few other folk gave him a cold bath to wake him up for the following day..this was at the farm...at Paparamu Road
They all appeared to have had a very interesting party prior to the Wedding Day.
We talked about my childhood times when he would take Peter,Jenny and I and to Pilot Bay in the farm Land Rover with a canvas roof..to paddle canoes in Pilot Bay,also Guy Ring and his brother.I always had a motivating time when I visited, and these memories have never been forgotten.
I could write about many memories but I shall end now.
Best Wishes to those who knew Frank...in my mind...a very special person whom I regret losing contact with.
Cheers
David Yardley
