Frank Holmes Obituary


HOLMES, Sir Frank Wakefield. Aged 87, died peacefully on Sunday 23 October 2011 at his Silverstream home. Dearly loved husband of the late Lady Nola Holmes (for 63 years); loved father of Ross and Janet, the late David and Rebecca, and dear friend of Lois. Loved Granddad of Tonya and Hafid; Michael and the late Greer; Christopher and Sheena; Paul and Jola; Jessica and Brayden;. Katherine; Robert and Jasmine; Andrew and Jacomina; and Jolene and Hau. Loved Great Granddad of Youcef, Nadia and Ibrahim; Isabella; Sylvester, Jacob and Ollie, Phoenix and Farrah; Elijah, Ayla, Zayliah and Jezariah; Cooper; and Nathaniel; and loved brother of Douglas and Murray. The family are very grateful for the loving care which Frank received from the staff of Elder Family Matters and Te Omanga Hospice which enabled him to remain in his home. In lieu of flowers donations to Te Omanga Hospice PO Box 30814, Lower Hutt 5040 would be appreciated. A service to celebrate and honour his life and achievements (he having banned doom and gloom) is being held at St. Pauls Cathedral, Corner Molesworth and Hill Streets Thorndon, Wellington on Monday 31 October 2011 at 1:00pm to which all are invited. To the family of Sir Frank Holmes and the late Lady Nola Holmes

The Otago University Students' Association staff and executive wish to pass on their condolences on the death of Sir Frank.

Sir Frank was a Life Member of OUSA and a highly respected gentleman.
