Oh I just saw this. I have great memories of Frank Gibson jnr playing upstairs at the Civic Tavern on Friday evenings back in the early 80s. A NZ jazz icon.

Frank tutored my son back in drum city in Balmoral when he was in his early 20s. He often took me to listen to him play upstairs opposite the Civic theatre as I introduced Gary to Jazz and the love of it. Gary has been living in Tokyo now for about 24years teaching English and married a sweet Japanese girl he met in Auckland. We send condolences to his family with love and respect. Dee Deed (Auckland)and my son Gary Albrecht ( Tokyo Japan ).

Frank was the drum teacher of my son, Alex Jarman who has played in gigs in London.
He still plays at special events such as Birthday celebrations even though he has a full time job as a Data Scientist in Melbourne these days and has a family. He is 48.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Rosie and family. Frank was very fondly remembered by the late Len and Doreen Broadbent and their family who have happy memories of Frank and Alan jamming for hours in our home. A great musician and friend through the years who brought music into all our lives. He will be sadly missed
