Dorie Satin Obituary

April 8, 1934 - September 29, 2025 Dorie Satin grew up on the South Side of Chicago, where she met and married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Satin. Together, they moved to California, raised two children, and built a wonderful life, sharing 46 years of marriage before Bob's passing (2000).
In time, Dorie found companionship again with Arthur "Shermie" Sherman, with whom she shared 16 years until his passing in 2019.
Dorie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her generosity, spunk, and open-minded spirit. A natural problem solver and a good listener, she touched the lives of all who knew her.

She enjoyed an active and vibrant life, filled with friendships and creative pursuits. Dorie loved her art classes-especially watercolor, colored pencil, and sculpture-and delighted in playing bridge and Rummikub. In 1966, she became a founding member of the Mulholland Tennis Club, where she excelled as an "A" ladder tennis player and enjoyed many years on the courts, playing until the age of 89, when paramedics finally told her it was time to hang up her racket.

While she cherished her role as a stay-at-home wife, mother, and Girl Scout leader, Dorie also dedicated herself to helping others. She served as a counselor for first-time offending youth and their families, volunteered for many years, and later worked with C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocates), advocating for foster youth with compassion and dedication.
Dorie was an extraordinary woman who lived an incredible life. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and creativity that will live on through the stories and memories shared by those she touched.
She is survived by her daughter Terry Satin; her son Gary Satin; her granddaughter Carly McDonald and her husband Kyle; and her future great-granddaughter, expected in April.
Funeral services will be held on October 9, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or to a cause close to your heart.
