I was sad to hear the news of John´s passing. My heart goes out to his family. I was an American exchange student in 1977 and stayed 3 months with the Camerons. John was a strong presence and clearly set an example of hard work for his children to follow. He was stern but kind. My fondest memory is when he took us all on holiday to the Marlborough Sounds, over Easter, on his yacht. He allowed me to come up to bridge and watch him sail. I also visited him and Shirley in 2009. They both graciously showed me around the grounds and house of their Carrington House and caught me up on the family.
John has left behind his rich legacy of hard work, success and kindness in his four lovely children. He accomplished much in his life for which he should be proud.

John and Shirley were such a huge part of my childhood. John was a mentor and father figure to my Dad. I have too many fond memories of times spent with them. My love and sympathy goes out to Shirley and their family. This is such a huge loss to many.

My heart goes out to the family as I´m deeply saddened to hear of John´s passing. I consider myself extremely lucky to have worked at Hirepool for a very talented man, who was down to earth, he was the best boss I´ve ever had. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time. Debbie Molony X

Very sad to learn of John´s passing. Our memories are of a very proud gentleman who loved his family very much. We initially met John during the purchase and sale of their homes including the very grand Carrington Estate. He leaves us with very fond memories. Mike & Jane
