My mother Joan French and Faye were best friends who met through the Outdoors Activities Club, and I got to know Faye really well myself too. Mum and Faye rode their bicycles together around Auckland, or went out to the movies , attended local school fairs and sometimes I'd see them both walking with the club. We spent many nights and days walking together when staying at Keddle House, the club house at Anawhata Beach north of Piha beach. A place I continue to enjoy hiking with my friends, thanks to Faye and my mums introducing me to OAC in 1997. I will also remember Faye as a very kind and knowledgeable lady, and a great tramping leader. Later on .. Faye was often in contact with me via Facebook from Australia, after my own mum passed away in 2007, and we remained friends ..May she rest in Peace. Kind regards Stephen French.

I met Faye through the OAC club .We spent many hours together. A memory I have when Faye was housesitting in Northcote of gathering for a delicious lunch followed by a walk around the local parks and walkways. I know that Faye volunteered at SPCA on a very regular basis, when it came to the Annual Collection I went and helped her prepare the leaflets and buckets. Neil & I helped Faye at her home moving a garden shed to safer more level ground, coffee and chats always followed. Unfortunately we lost touch and so sad to not know how she spent her final years.
