STONE, Reverend Father John Blair, (J B Blair, Papa Bear). Priest of the Diocese of Dunedin. In his 57th year of priesthood. On 4 May 2012 at Sacred Heart Home Dunedin aged 81 years. Loved youngest son of the late Richard and Eileen, (nee Quaid) Stone. Loved brother and brother-in- law of the late Dick & late Clare Stone (Invercargill), the late Lew and Mary Stone (Winton) and the late Frank. "The last of the Fabulous Stone Brothers". Beloved Uncle and friend of Rick and Kathy (Christchurch), Martha and Ron McLeod (Invercargill), Peter and Marni (Invercargill), Keiran and Louise (Greymouth), David and Tanya (Canberra), Michael (Queenstown), Chris and Suzy (Waikanae), Bryan (Queenstown), Margaret and Damian Fox (Auckland), Barbara and John Sullivan (Wellington), Jack and Sally(Queenstown), Rosie and Grant Dowling (Winton), Julie and Kevin Dyer (Winton) and loved great Uncle of his 30 great nephews and nieces. Heartfelt thanks to Sr Regis SM and the Little Sisters of the Poor and staff at Sacred Heart Hospital wing, Brockville. R.I.P. Requiem Mass for Fr. John will be celebrated in St Patrick's Basilica, Macandrew Road, South Dunedin on Tuesday May 8 at 2:30pm, followed by interment at Andersons Bay Cemetery.Rosary will be recited today at 4:30pm, and Evening Prayers of the Church will be recited at 7pm St Joseph's Church 295 Brockville Road, Dunedin. So sad to read of Father Blair's passing. I especially remember him at harvest time on the farm at Pukemaori. He made the hard work fun! Much loved by my mother Leta Cavanagh - his cousin. May he Rest in Peace.
