Evelyn GILLEN Obituary

GILLEN, Evelyn. On Tuesday 23 July 2024, our extraordinary, beautiful Mum Evelyn Gillen passed peacefully at Middlemore Hospital surrounded by all of her children Tom, Cath, Damien and Dominic. She was the most courageous, brave and strong woman we had the privilege to have as a Mother. Her love for her family, Our Lord Jesus and his Holy Mother Mary were her passions in life. She devoted so much of her life to raising her family and working for Our Lady through the Legion of Mary. Evelyn was a wonderful, loving grandmother to Jacob, Lilliana, Elsie, Ezra, Lara and Emily. Supportive Aunty to Kevin and Sue. Mum will be incredibly missed by all who loved her and knew her and leave a huge hole in our close-knit family. Thank you to all who offered prayers and Masses throughout her illness. In lieu of flowers, can you please offer up a Mass for the holy souls - this is what Mum would have wished for. Requiem Mass for her will be celebrated at St Mark Catholic Church, 334 Pakuranga Road, Pakuranga on Wednesday 31st July at 11.00 am.

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of this amazing lady Evelyn. I am so happy that I got to see you again at Mums funeral a couple of months ago. My thoughts and prayers are with the Gillan family. I as so sorry for your loss. She really made a difference in so many peoples life's especially my Mums and the O'Neill Family. Very grateful to have a laugh with you again and shared stories in June. Lots of love to the Gillan Family at a very difficult time. Thank you Evelyn for being an earth angel and all you did for the O'Neill's. To know you was a true blessing.

We are so sorry to hear of Evelyn's passing. She was an inspiration to us all with her dedication to Our Lord and His Blessed Mother. Mum and Dad were grateful for her support in the annual Rosary procession that Evelyn helped with for 20 years, and they were grateful too for her support of the St Marks First Friday adoration and the many visits to our home with the Legion of Mary statue. She had the mark of a christian with the joy she radiated. She had a lovely positive outlook on life and we will miss the sound of her infectious laugh. May we all meet again.
Love from the Pratt family of Pakuranga (Mary, (deceased), Colin, Donna and Michael)
