For, our Evie,
It seems wrong and ridiculous for me to be writing this remembrance for you Evie, when there was certainly more in your earth life that could be done. I'm sitting at my laptop, considering this address to you, your mother, our sister's smiling face, is but a few feet away across the room, our common anchor of whakapapa.....and now, you are reunited.
I'm sorry I cannot be there in person to say that last goodbye, typically, at this time of the seasons, Opotiki has felt the intervention of Tawhirimatea at his finest. The attendance of all the elements in major technicolour and havoc, swirling rushing brown water across the highways and landscapes, gouged hillsides and slopes, giant roaded potholes and many of the trees, rocks and other debris are being cleared from the roads....and while it is not considered the norm of remembrance for many, I find it a fitting closure. As you have left us in physical form...you now return to those elements.... the circle of life
As Matariki rolls in 2026 we will search for the Eve star...so make sure ...extra twinkles not wrinkles please!
Haere ra Evie
Kua wheturangitia koe...Return, take your place amongst the stars, along with your ancestors that adorn the sky.
