I met Vangie in 1970 when I was a "hippie" secretary at Macalester College. She listened to my goofy ideas and always shared heart to heart. I could always make her laugh, but that wasn't hard.
I know she indulged me in ways she wouldn't have her own children. We had some visits, lunches, drives around. I suggested she visit my family in England on one of her trips, and she did. Well, my parents were tickled and I still have the photos. She gave me a ride to the airport after I slept on her couch on one of my trips home.
I knew and loved her various homes, and the last time I saw her was in summer last year when I visited her at the Episcopal care center. Somehow after visiting her I always felt I was such an unusually delightful person.
We always could share heart-to-heart. She was kind and loving. I did enjoy John, and their gentle relationship.
If I was hurting I knew she would reassure me. If I was needing something I knew she would help any way she could, with a warm shoulder, or words of encouragement.
My friend Vangie was a mother I never had. I am so sorry I didn't know she had died. I would have come.
My love to her family whom she adored.

Vangie and I go back and long way, thirty-some years, and she was one of my very best friends. I will miss her a lot. My sympathy to her family.

I remember last year when she came to our Halloween party as an Angel. But she insisted she was an fairy God mother. But to me, she will always be an Angel. Love Always
