Eugene SHEPHERD Obituary

SHEPHERD, Eugene Wayne. On 9th September 2016, peacefully at Pohlen Hospital Matamata, after a short illness. Aged 70 years. Dearly loved darling husband of Margaret and much loved dad of Glyn and Anne, Claire, Nicola and Terry Smith, and Kirsty and Paul. A loved and very special grandad of Kiana, Casey, Deakan, Zakk and Xander. Requiem Mass will be held at the Catholic Church of the Holy Angels, 28 Hohaia Street, Matamata, on Thursday 15th September at 11.00am, followed by private cremation. Special thanks to all the staff at Pohlen Hospital for their love and care of Eugene. Communications for the family c/- Broadway Funeral Home, Short Street, Matamata, 3400 FDANZ.

Eugene always had Maramarua golf club in his heart and always looked out for the best interests of the club.

A real character who called into work at times to share his ideas and enthusiasm with us.

Dear Margaret and family,
My heart goes out to you all at this very sad time. Eugene was a good friend to my Dad Pat and all the Humphreys family. He will be sadly missed by us all. Someday we will understand why he was taken so suddenly. My thoughts will be with you all tomorrow. Just wished I could have been there to pay my last respects to one hell of a great guy. Sad to hear of your loss Margaret and family, so many memories of Eugene and all the help he gave to Girl Guides and the many times he picked me on Browns Rd when I was working at Hannahs in Otahuhu and saved me the big trek up to the bus stop.
Eugene was such a caring, loving man and all you wish for in a husband and father.
