Ethel MURRAY Obituary

MURRAY, Ethel Modesta (Evelyn) (nee Fitchett). Born February 5, 1940. Evelyn's family advise with deep sadness her passing on the 21st December, also her 67th wedding anniversary. A cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She lived her life filled with love and caring for her husband and family and stoically fought her short illness this last year. A brave, strong and gentle lady always with a smile and an open door and never passing judgement - just holding out the constant hand of friendship. Evelyn's children Karen, Vernon and his wife Leigh wish their very special mother a peaceful farewell as she moves on to join her beloved husband Jack (deceased July 2024) and her daughter Susan (deceased 2020). Evelyn's grandchildren Bradley, Ashley, Ryan, Alex and Benjamin share fond memories of a cheerful, happy soul who had a knack of always surprising them with the most unique gifts and she leaves many special memories they will treasure. She loved a good party and an excuse to dress up and adored her animals - home was not home without birds, dogs, cats - and any wounded human that needed help. She will be missed dearly but remembered forever for punching well above her weight all of her life. A funeral service to celebrate Evelyn's life will take place on Monday 30th December 2024 at Tipene Funerals, 24 Hill Street Onehunga, commencing at 1:00pm.
