Esme was the first Trainee Nurse registered at Middlemore Hospital, and Middlemore has a building named after her.
Esme became a staff sister, establishing the Middlemore Nurses Club.
In her latter years, Esme came to Elmwood Village, she enjoyed coming to the Retired Nurses group at Elmwood, the laughter and chatter from that group, of their shared Nursing Days was always inspiring.
Once a Nurse always a Nurse.
Esme was a much loved much respected figure in the nursing fraternity and by all who knew her, you will be missed by us all, now reunited with her much beloved husband. Rest In Peace Esme

Thinking of Esme today. I have such lovely memories of knowing her through Zonta, enjoying life and always with a sparkle in her eye. A life well lived. My condolences to the family.

Growing up, my family always visited Esme and Ken. Esme was everything you could want in an "auntie", especially an honorary one. She was welcoming, kind, generous and interested; even in her smallest visitors. I felt so treasured on those visits. Thank you Esme. You have touched the hearts of so many in your long and wonderful life. May you now enjoy a peaceful sleep, knowing you have lived, truly lived, a treasured life.
