Eric THRUPP Obituary

THRUPP, Eric George. Of Asto Court, Matamata, 21 May 1938 - 1 August 2025. Passed away peacefully at Waikato Hospital surrounded by love. Beloved father of Brett and Scott, father-in-law of Tanja, Karen and Jenny. Adored grandfather of Taylor, Payton, Alex and Imogene. Cherished brother of Neil and friend of Sue. Treasured uncle of Steve and Tanya, Tony and Celine. An early New Zealand paramedic and a tour bus driver. A gentleman loved by those who knew him. A particular thank you to the Waikato General Medical and Palliative Care, Pohlen Hospital, Matamata District Nursing, and Dr Bruce Pitchford for their sensitive care of Eric. A celebration of Eric's life will be held at the Pepper Street Kitchen, 1 Pepper Street Matamata on Saturday 9 August at 1:00 p.m. The service will be live- streamed please refer to funeralhome.co.nz. All communications to the Thrupp family care of 10 Short Street, Matamata.

I have memories of school days at Mangakino.. working together in the Post Office,.. You helping my Dad showing the Sunday pictures... even as a young lad you were full of good humour, quick wit, fun and laughter. You will be greatly missed by your family and your brother Neil. I had a pleasure of being a coffee mate of Eric´s at the Local Cafe in Remuera. As time went on we became good friends & would regularly meet for an early weekday breakfast or weekend brunch.
Eric was a true gentlemen, always ready with a good yarn and a cheeky one liner.
I´m going to miss our chats and the laughs we shared.
Rest in peace my friend.

THRUPP, Eric George. Served as an Ambulance Officer in Taupo and Auckland for over 30 years. Fastideous in his presentation. Larger than life for his humour and style. Went on to have a 25 year career as on the tour coach tourist circuit with Pavlovich Coach Lines. A giant Totara at rest. A valued member of the New Zealand Association of Ambulance Veterans.
