To Colin and the Sugden family.
My thoughts are with you all at this sad time. I only heard of Eric´s passing today.
Although I haven´t seen Eric for about 12 years, he´ll always remain in my memory as the wise, skillfull and patient skipper of the first keel boat I ever raced on.
Thanks Eric for taking me onboard (figuratively and literally) and opening up a world of yachting that has become my life. I enjoyed every minute onboard Patrician with you and your crew.
Best wishes to Colin, Gary and families.

My sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the Sugden family at the passing of Eric, a much loved husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. I have not seen Eric or his wife Dorrie for around 56 years but remember them with fondness and the greatest respect. I knew Eric through scouting in Cambridge as well has his Dad “Rangi” and his mum. Growing up in Cambridge at the age of 11, during my school holidays, I used to bike out to the Sugden farm at Karapiro where I would go with Eric out on their wonderful farm to help with lambing and stay to help with the evening milking. He was a great mentor, always patient and a great friend. He taught me to ride a horse, drive a tractor and involved me in all sorts of tasks on the farm. Back then, sons Chris and John were only toddlers. My thoughts are with the Sugden family at this sad time. Best wishes, Doug. Lambert - Tauranga.
