A tribute to Aunty Elsie:

Aunty Elsie was a grandma I never had. I had the pleasure of knowing her when I stayed with her from 1998 - 2000. A kind soul who took me in when I was looking for accommodation.

She was a woman of steel and one who had a mind of her own. We talked a lot and she shared many of her stories with me. I was also honoured to have written and shared her amazing life story in my Women Studies assignment. My treasured and loving memories of her were of her falling asleep on her couch with the TV on, she couldn't live without her car, she always shared that we cannot depend on others but herself, also always remember to take her pills! I always enjoyed the warm meals she cooked and will always remember the time when she taught me how to make bao!

She is a feminist in her own way and she is so big hearted that she gives without expecting anything in return. She will always be my role model and will continue to be an inspiration to me!

Aunty Elsie, you will always be in my heart. RIP.

Deepest condolences to you, Lester. Wish I was there. Please take care.
