OTIMI-WOODHOUSE, Elizabeth Ngarongo Kahira. Formerly known as Sister Marie Andre Otimi, RNDM, who spent 25 years teaching around New Zealand and in the Maori Mission. Born 06 December 1944 died 24 April 2017. Beloved wife of Russell, mother of Uenuku, proud Kuia of her five mokopuna: Te Rangi, Rongomai, Te Peehi, Te Puia and newly-born Rose Whaitiri. Service at Waihi Marae via Tokaanu on Friday 28th April at 11.00 am. No reira, e te whaea, haere, haere, haere atu ra. Taupo Funeral Services Ltd FDANZ

This morning I had cause to remember a nice young nun who briefly taught relief at my primary school in the very early 70s in Christchurch. She taught us songs in te reo, which I had never encountered before, and I have always remembered them and her. I decided to google.... I am sure that she is this same lady, and I am both happy to see she had such a wonderful fulfilling and productive life, and sad to see she has passed away so young. My condolences to her family.
