Thankyou, Betty. So many years of devotion to your family, and contribution to the world of competitive swimming. I can recall the hours spent bringing Jill and Don to morning and afternoon swim training - as many a 'swim Mum' still does. Then hours and hours of spending time at the end of a lane during swim carnivals, meticulously holding the stop watch. That was before touch pads, and electronic timing took over that role - and even before many indoor pools were built. How often there was a howling gale whipping up the length of Newmarket Baths.
Reaching the level of National time-keeper, and officiating at NZ and International Championship Meetings.
What a joy it was, when you were appointed as Women's Manager for the entire Team of all competitors, at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1970. Always smiling, always dignified, and always a friend. We will miss you, Betty, and are thinking of your family at this time.

100 years such a great age! Fond memories of Betty's sparkling eyes and infectious laugh at many swimming carnivals years ago. Condolences to Jill, Don and families.
