MURPHY, Elaine "Joy". Joy passed away peacefully in Sumner, Christchurch on 25 January 2026, aged 93 years. Cherished wife for 61 years of the late Frank. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Susan and Jonathan (Sydney); Shona (deceased) and Stuart (Waikato); Greg and Linda (USA); Lynne and Ross (Christchurch); Erin (UK). Much loved Grandma of Victoria; Andrew, Elizabeth and Campbell; Jack; Ben, Fergus and Jessica; Natasha and Zach. Great Grandma of Fletcher; Harriet, Grayson and Penny; Lily and Hamish. Loved sister of Ray (Hamilton) and Pat (Sydney). Forever in our hearts Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Edith Cavell Lifecare, Sumner, whose respect and care for Joy over the past five months, as well as support for our family, was exceptional. We are so very grateful to you all. Thanks also to Linda Jones Retirement Village, Hamilton, who provided a caring home for Joy in the preceding years. Joy has donated her body to Otago University Anatomy Dept for medical training/ research. A "Celebration of Joy" will be held at the Lyceum Club, 38 Moorhouse St, Morrinsville, Saturday 28 February at 11.00am, followed by refreshments. All welcome.
