Margaret Anthony Obituary

Margaret Josephine "Jo" Anthony, 90, of Apollo, died Friday, June 4, 2010, in Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot. She was born March 15, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Francis and Delia (Mulhern) Kelleher, and lived in Apollo for the past 60 years. She was employed by Sperry-Rand Corp. prior to joining the Navy. During World War II, she served in the Navy as a pharmacist mate and met her future husband, Russell. She was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church where she was very active and a member of the CD of A and Rosary confraternity of the church. Mrs. Anthony was also a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul Society. She was an avid reader and loved her vacations at the beach with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Anthony, April 16, 1995; three brothers, Frank, Thomas and Edward Kelleher; and a sister, Evelyn Kelleher. She is survived by her children, Russell F. (Rochelle) Anthony, of Estero, Fla., Christine (Dennis) Baker, of New Kensington, John M. (Cindy) Anthony, of Sterling, Alaska, Susan L. Anthony, of Apollo, Janice M. Cramer, of Apollo, and Meg A. (Tim) Yount, of Apollo; sister, Florence (Anthony) Calabrese, of New Jersey; 18 grandchildren, John, Josue, Rochelle, Alina, Melany, Jeffrey, Alex, Steven, Jennifer, Fawn, Adam, Anthony, Danny, Randy, Amanda, Troy, Bradley and Maggie; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, PA 15613. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, with Father John Euker officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
