Earl JOHNSON Obituary

JOHNSON, Earl Ralph. Born 4th August 1940, passed away peacefully 17th February 2023 at North Shore Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Much loved husband of the late Linda, brother of the late Wayne and Craig, father of Anne, Philip and Mark, father in law of Mark and the late Kelly, grandfather to lovely girls Emily, Lucy, Amanda and Bella. Earl has many friends and touched the hearts of many people from Onehunga Working Mens Club, Edendale Bowling club, Waipu Campground, Riverside Campground at Mangawhai, his long service as a carpentry tutor at Carrington/Unitech through to his more recent time at Bert Sutcliffe Retirement Village. He loved his family, telling good yarns, giving his worldy advice and having a few quiet ones! A celebration of Earl's life will be held at H Morris Funeral Home, 31 Ocean View Road, Northcote at 1pm on Friday 24th February. Many thanks to the support of family and friends and Ward 6 North Shore Hospital staff for their compassion and care. Earl it's now time for us to tell stories of you in the years to come and time for you to be back with Linda. Forever with us in our hearts.

Earl Johnson was one of my lecturers when I went to Unitec in 1994 . my memories of Earl is that he was a good caring and honest man who had a genuine interest in teaching us all. His wisdom and knowledge of the building industry was second to none . Earl most certainly wasnt afraid to tell you off if you did something wrong, but it was always tempered with compassion,kindness and humour. in 1994 as an 18 year old starting off in life at that time you couldnt find a better man than Earl Johnson to guide you on your journey in life no matter where it ended up.Thank you Earl Johnson, you lived a life that was dedicated to guiding others and teaching us all . may you rest in peace Earl

Earl was a well-respected and much-loved Tutor here at Unitec. He is remembered by everyone as a great guy. He taught at Unitec well into his 70's he was amazing and will be missed.
