Through the 1960's Dudley did a lot of his rowing training on the Tamaki River, from both the St Georges and University Boat Sheds. So many of us were privileged to have been touched by this gentle bear of a man, who always had time for personal contact and advice. Subsequent fame from his National Representative exploits did not change his demeanour. Memories of him are imprinted on many fellow rowers all these years later. Our thoughts are with Paula and family at this time.

Dudley Storey, so sorry to hear of your passing recently my sincere condolences to Paula and family. First met in the 60's when mainly for off-season fitness, you, Murray Watkinson, Alan Webster played basketball at the Auckland YMCA for North Shore when I was just getting started. Our very infrequent catch-ups over all the years remained as if we had played just yesterday, always that big smile and friendly welcome and banter. Congratulation Dudley on all your successes and for the lives that you shaped and changed for the good along the way. An incredibly generous man, congratulations on a life so well lived. Love and comfort to Paula and all your family. Go well Dudley. Rob Arblaster

Memories of Dudley will remain in everyone's heart. His quotes, words, laughter and mannerisms never forgotten and always treasured.
- The fright that everyone got when we would smack the bow of the boat as we exited the rowing shed... 'to make sure we were awake'
- The passion he had when telling us the story of the years he managed the Mens 8+ to the Olympics.
What an utterly inspirational person.
My love goes out to Paula and Alison whom selflessly shared Dud with us all, what amazing Woman.

My sympathy to all the Storey family. Dudley was so positive and loyal to rowing and those around him. I competed against him many times. As could be expected he was a strong competitor. He was always such an active ingredient of the rowing scene. Interestingly I note he was only two and a half weeks older than me so we were close compatriots.
