So so very sorry it all came down with a tumble at the end so quickly. Doug and I kept up a regular email correspondence since we met at The Standing Rock demonstration in South Dakota, US. 2016
Doug and Paula had come all the way out of moral outrage we all shared.
I had wanted to fly out to NZ and say goodbye.
Never a complaint about his fate, always a wry humor for the absurd. I do grieve.

Sad to hear the news of the passing of such an amazing man. Although our time together was short, he showed me the world of art through his paintings and sculptures through his eyes, a deep thinker, gentle and kind. Memories of Makarori beach. Building our first wee sail boat at Len's shop and launching it at Makarori beach in rough seas. Not a good start but I went on to eventually learn to sail and had years sailing the Waitemata and Hauraki Gulf. I got to have a brief catch up a few years ago at Browns Bay market where he was with Terry. Doug, you will be sadly missed and there will always be a place for you in my heart.
