I recently started to trace a member of my mothers family, and much to my amazement discovered there was a file held by the Auckland Museum donated by Dorothy Wilkinson in 2003 - and I am reaching out in appreciation. My mother had a great Aunt Daisy, we never met her, and she was never included in the many family anecdotes that were shared. Curiosity whilst trying to complete some of the missing pieces in my mothers family tree has led me to my Great Aunt Daisy Hall, known in New Zealand as Margherita Zelanda, and Dorothy researched her life for an article published in the 1990´s - hence the file of info held by Auckland Museum.
I know it´s a very long shot, but I am curious as to how Mrs Wilkinson would have known Daisy, and what prompted her to try and trace so much about her life.

Dorothy was one of the first mothers who became a La Leche League Leader in New Zealand, helping to lay the foundations of this organisation's early beginnings in Aotearoa. Along with Vin Healy and Shirley Walker in the mid sixties she was approved from the USA to lead a La Leche League group to offer information, support and encouragement to other mothers who wished to breastfeed.

Lawrence, Janet and Jess, your Mother/Grandmother was so proud of you all. Dorothy was a kind, generous and hospitable hostess to genealogy friends. Her monthly meetings at her home were something to look forward to, from beginners to the more experienced.
Sincere Condolences to you all a this difficult time. R.I.P. Dorothy.
