So sorry I didn't meet Great Aunty Dora. She was half sister of my Grandmother (Philis Florence Jenny Spain, nee Whelan). Our family didn't know of Nana's father's second family until recently. Having spoken to cousin Kylie about the two women, I think they would have supported each other and enjoyed a sisterly relationship. So sad they never met.

Elise your friendship with my Mum Barbara Rae(Howat) was inspirational. When I eventually met you what an impression you left.A tiny little lady with the most beautiful coloured hair.I remember coming to your place in Takapuna with Mum ,such a gracious lady who loved doing jigsaw puzzles.Your part in my Mums life will never be forgotten .Rest in peace.Christine Bruce

What a privilege it was to have known you.At the age of 19 we met at the Ammunitions Factory in Hillcrest Hamilton. You were always known as the little mother to all the young soldiers. What great times we had.Your golden hair will be a vivid memory for me. The fcontacts over the years although not regularly , just made the years roll back as if it was yesterday.Thank you for having someone contact me at your passing-it has meant a great deal to me and our friendship.Although sad today there will always be a warm feeling in my heart for our friendship spanning 77 years .

September 28, 2017
The NorthShore Rockhounds Club would like to offer our condolences to the family.
Elise (and her husband Jack were both members of our club for many, many years. They organised a group of members in our club called the "Fundraisors" and with the help of others, these members raised a large sum of money that enabled the club to grow and prosper to the point where their legacy is evidenced in our extensive club rooms at Marlborough Park, Glenfield. They were both Life members of our Club.
They will alway be remembered.
