May your slumber be peaceful precious one, despite the sadness and the pain of your parting we know your journey is not a lonely one, for you travel with our esteemed chief who passed last month, you travel with our beautiful niece who passed last week, so farewell precious plume.

To Carol, Gary and Kevin Atkinson, it is with the greatest sadness I offer my condolences to your family at the loss of Donna.

In the short time she was Area Commander of the Wairarapa she and I worked closely and collaboratively to deliver justice services to our community. She was passionate, hard working, dedicated, driven and with a good sense of humour. And yes, she had a big gentle heart.

I enjoyed working with her and think fondly of our meetings and private conversations shared between the two of us. I will miss her wit and wisdom. Her courage, fearlessness and leadership is without question.

In time I wish for all of you, her family, to find comfort and peace.
