Donald SWAN Obituary

SWAN, Donald William (Don). 1947 - 2025. Passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025. Much loved husband of Lynne Bruce and father of Camilla (Milly) Swan and partner Scott. Loved only son of Bernie Swan and Joan Reindler. Brother-in-law of Annemarie and Dan Cooney, David and Jill Bruce, Katrina and Bill McDonald, Dean and Karen Bruce. Loved uncle and great uncle of his nieces and nephews. Loved friend of the Miers family. Activist in the anti-apartheid movement, life-long trade unionist and brother to many. A farewell for Don will be held at Aoraki Funeral Services Chapel, 160 Mountain View Road, Timaru on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 2.30pm. A celebration of Don's life will be held in Wellington at a date to be advised. Special thanks to doctors, notably Dr Bindewald and Dr Ford, nurses, staff at Timaru Hospital and The Croft for their wonderful care of Don and support of his family. In lieu of flowers donations to E Tu Union Hardship Fund or South Canterbury Presbyterian Support Family Works Food Bank would be gratefully accepted and can be left at the service.
