PEARSON, Donald Evan. Don passed away doing what he loved, surfing at Makorori Beach, Gisborne on 18th March 2023, aged 61 years. Loved husband of Jenne. Father and father-in-law of Naomi and Morgan, Renee and Ebony, and grandfather of Ivy and Oliver, Harry and Ziggy. Son of Dorothy and the late Evan (Taradale). Brother and brother-in-law of Robert (Bob) (Taradale), Marie and Warren Hokke (Waipukurau). Don's life will be celebrated at House of Breakthrough, Gisborne at 11am on Saturday, 25 March, with viewing from 10am. Donald and I were so sad to hear of Don's passing. What a loss to you, Jenne, and to Naomi, Renee and Ebony and your families. Our hearts and prayers are with you as you adjust to this huge, unexpected gap in your lives. We have had huge respect for Don, loving the way he forged a new path in education before his time, his calmness and inner joy, his deep love for his family and God. He displayed care to so many in his surfing life, teaching, friendships and to colleagues. His life is an inspiration. We'll all meet again, but meanwhile, Jenne, know that you're surrounded by much love and care. Sorry we're not closer to hug you tight.
