Donald Merton Obituary

MERTON, Donald Vincent (Don). QSM; (hon) DSc; U.N.E.P. Global 500 Laureate; Fellow Ornithological Society of NZ. On April 10, 2011, at home with family at his side. Loved husband of Margaret, Father of Dave and Jan Tinetti. Loved grandfather of Liam and Zak Merton. We were in awe of his calmness and philosophical acceptance of his illness; his courage was an inspiration to his family, friends and colleagues. The farewell service to celebrate Don's journey will be held at Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club, Sulphur Point, Tauranga on Thursday, April 14th at 2pm followed by a private cremation. At Don's request donations to the Forest and Bird Threatened Species Trust, c/- Forest and Bird, PO 631, Wellington 6140 would be welcomed.
