Thoughts are with the family at this time.

The last time I saw Don was in Maketu, probably early 2009 - one of the last trips I did with my my sister Nicky Reilly (nee Roberts, passed away 2009) was to see Don, Nicky's Godfather.

Don told the story, as I recall, that as a very young child, Don's parents moved to Pukekohe, and my Mum, Beryl Guthrie (at that time, later Beryl Roberts) lived over the fence. They became lifelong friends from that early meeting.

My earliest memories of Don (and Rama) are from probably 50 years ago.

One of my latest memories was when I spoke of Don to my wife (Wendy) this Monday gone, making plans to travel north when this craziness settles a little more. A visit to Don was specific to that journey..

Each year at Xmas, I would speak to Don, with him usually making the call. So appreciative of his making the effort to keep in touch.

The memories of Don will live on, carried by those that are lucky enough and thankful to have known him.

Warmest regards to all the family.

Evan, Wendy and Finn Roberts. Dunedin.
