Donald HERDMAN Obituary

HERDMAN, Donald Roderick (Don). On Friday 30th June 2017, at the age of 87. Dearly loved husband of Joan (deceased). Cherished and very much loved father and father in law of Jennifer (deceased), Rod and Vicki, Steve and Deb / Janene (deceased), Phillip and Diane, Paul and Paula, and Ross and Robyn. Very proud Poppa of Kim and Sam, Jamie, Carl and Christine, Gareth and Jenna, Renee and Todd, Cody, Shane, Donelle and Jason, Natalie and Chris, Paul and Alex, Hayden and Amy, Georgia, Grace and Maddison. Great grandfather of Finn, Toby and Ruby, Henry, Charlotte and Olive, Kiala and Emery, Don and Mason. Such a generous and caring man. A true leader and rock for all to lean on. He touched not only the lives of his family, but impacted the wider community. Will be very dearly missed. A celebration of Don's life will be held in the Baptist Centre, Keepa Road, Whakatane on Wednesday 5th July at 11am followed by burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Whakatane. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Hospice and Whakatane Hospital for their wonderful care of Don. Messages please to the Herdman family c/- PO Box 2070 Whakatane.

So sorry to hear of Don's death, what a wonderful man he was. To all of the family, our deepest sympathy. What a full life he had. He and Joan were such great a team. As a child I remember thinking of them as kind and 'always smiling'. They visited us here in the US a number of years a go and I always enjoyed visiting them when I was home.
