Dirk ZANDSTRA Obituary

ZANDSTRA, Dirk Roelof. 20 June 1961- 13 September 2012. Died suddenly at home Thursday morning whilst waiting for the sun to rise to go out for his morning run with Millie. Friend and partner for 30 years and loving husband to Anna, the most terrific dad to Mikayla and Mitchell, adored son of Velma (and the late Hank), brother of Diane and the late Delphine. Favourite son-in-law of Joanne and the late Ray Snowden, brother-in- law to Kerry and Kathy, Phillip and Julie, Uncle to Chris, Sam, Matt and Katie, Elise and Amelia. Gone to play and supervise rugby in the sky. Left too soon, but we enjoyed your wit, humour and generosity, whilst you were here. 5 o'clock drinks won't be the same or the catch up gossip of the day in the spa. Sorry I couldn't save you, I did try really hard. Mikayla and Mitchell have lost their mentor and best friend but your wisdom and love will carry them always and I'll just have to tell you everything that is going on. Miss you honey xxx A service for Dirk will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 215 Devonport Road, Tauranga on Tuesday September 18th at 1.30pm followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tauranga Sports Rugby Club which may be left at the service. Elliotts Funeral Services Tauranga FDANZ

Will never forget you and the wonderful memories and fun times in London that we had with you (Tarzan) and Anna (Jane). You always were the constant, the quiet, smiling, sweet, unassuming rock with so much to give and all with the mighty kindness of a gentle man. You will forever be in our hearts Dirk... always.
