Dear Great Nana.
When I was just a little girl in New Zealand,
Mum and I always used to come to visit you.
Pictures of me filled your house walls,
And you said you loved me, 'til my face turned blue.
I used to play in your beautiful garden,
And pick colourful flowers for you to smell.
I wore all of your precious jewellery,
Until I walked around sounding like a bell.
When I was 6, we left for Australia,
And I knew you were far from glad.
This meant I couldn't see you all the time,
I would miss you…that made me sad.
When we came to Australia,
We would ring each other every week.
You asked me some silly questions,
Like what I was wearing and had to eat.
You had a thing for Handbags,
And you loved cats too.
So just above my message,
I took a picture for you.
We all know people pass,
But we hoped this day wouldn't come.
I loved having you in my life,
...And so did everyone.
You were an amazing person,
On the inside and outside.
I love you and miss you,
As you've probably already implied.
I treasured the times I saw you,
And I can remember it like it was yesterday.
I know now you're in a peaceful place,
And that you'll be smiling and okay.
Rest In Peace?
I love you.
I miss you.
Always,
xoxo
