We met Des and Pam when we moved to NZ in 1996. We enjoyed many happy visits with them over the 11 years we were there. They were pillars in our fellowship and gave us many words of wisdom to live by. When they sold their home and went to live in their travel home we bought a little lamp stand which came back to the states with us and still in our living room in use. It is a just a reminder of some wonderful friends. There is no doubt that his smile and good will to others will be missed. His family was very important to him and he will be missed by all who knew him. Our sympathy to Pam and all his family and friends. So glad he made heaven his goal and Jesus his friend.

I was about 17 when I got to know the Williams' and their young family. I was often in the Aladdin coffee lounge, not having a flat white, but chatting with Des over a pie and a custard square. Des and Pam had a big influence on me in those years and with their support and encouragement I joined the Police, which led to relationships many of us still enjoy to this day.
In 2000 our family 'emigrated' to the North Shore from Wellington to live in the 'same town' again as the Williams (and Lomas'). In recent times we have been grateful of renewed bonds, and friendships that now extend down yet another generation.
Our last meeting with Des and Pam was just as good as every other occasion, it was amazing. With his illness Des had all the reasons in the world to be downcast and negative, but he was incredibly uplifting with his smile and humour fully intact. We all remember Des' (shared with Pam) joy of life and the joy and peace of their faith, which was everything to them.
All our love, Trevor and Jenny Murray

Dear Pam,Sharon, Jane, Jason, Matthew and family members.
Feel sad to think t your dear Des/ Dad/ Father in law, Grandad and Great Grandad no longer being here in person.
Glad we had the privilege of knowing him in the happy days at Glenfield? -On the Northshore.
And treasure the few times when you came south in your Motorhome Pam with 2 of your grand daughters and then just the 2 of you.
Bronwyn said you used to call and visit our mum in Taupo too.
Thinking of you all and know it will be such a 'ginormous gap' for each one losing your special family member who we can imagine would have delighted in and taken an interest in each one.
Love and thoughts
