ROUNTREE Derek, You have given us pleasant memories of days gone. From early ski Club days to the complete car yard experience. It is such a sad, sad time that you have left us so soon. We were looking forward to many more get-togethers with you, as you always had a fun and happy presence about you.
We will miss your laughter, jokes and quirky comments. Our deepest sympathy and thoughts to the family.

I didn't know you half as well as those who've signed here, but can't disagree with anything I've read from what I remember of you. No one's mentioned our scout days though! A true shock and reminder to live each day fully and touch lives in special ways as you obviously did. My sympathies to all those who are missing you now.

So sorry to hear of your passing Derek, you were a man with a huge heart, compassion & empathy for others. I'll always remember you for your kindness when my little girl was sick & after she died. The world lost an incredible man this week. Love to all your family x

Derek it's been over 40 years since we first met at the YMCA ski club at Ruapehu. So much learning, growing, experiences, stories and laughs since then. Your death leaves a pain that time won't heal, your friendship a memory no one can steal.
