I tried to find Denise for many years as I had fond memories of a lovely looking young women from Greymouth. As a schoolboy each Friday Denise and her sister Joy would come to my aunty Barbara's for a midday lunch during the mid to late 60's. Barbara Quate was the wife of the late John Quate who passed away in 1966 from memory. Joy and Denise were about ten years older than I at that time, and I was impressed by how professional and well spoken she was. In those times she used to have her blonde hair done in a bun style. My family left Greymouth in 1968 for Oamaru and I never saw Denise again.
My search was flawed as I never new her married name.

I have fond memories of my friend Denise Jean Wickes (Quate) from Runanga School days. I also worked at Bunt & Co, Albert Street, Greymouth until she moved to Auckland. Very sorry to hear of her passing and send sympathy to her family and to her sister Joy. Happy memories from Gleny Coburn (Foster-Lynam).

Fond memories of my Runanga School classmate and friend Denise. We started school together in 1952 and continued through until Greymouth High school in 1961 when my family left the West Coast.
The highlight of the Runanga school year was the annual ball and I have a photo of Denise, Joy, their cousin Diane and myself all in fancy dress. I met up with Denise again in 2006 at the Dunollie/Runanga School Centenary. Our school years were happy ones. My sincere sympathy is extended to Denise's family.
Irene Cook (nee Mintoft, formerly of Dunollie)
