David will be sadly missed, he came to Wales following an email conversation as I was sharing Karaka as a goid practice example with my students. We had hoped I could visit the amazing facilities to experience the inspirational surroundings and curriculum before bringing colleagues and students. David was truly an incredible individual. I will always be grateful for his enthusiasm & drive to ensure children come first.

To Debbie and family,
So sorry for your loss.
Sometimes in life you meet a person and know instantly that they are a special kind of person. David was one of them. He was always happy and a pleasure to be around. He will be sorely missed.

David was a huge inspiration and help in setting up the Pahurehure Inlet Protection Society Inc and cleaning up our Inlet No 2. He had a vision that the children of the Papakura community could use and enjoy the open waters for recreation just as he did in his childhood. He was a great encouragement to the establishment committee members with his `can do´ attitude, his expertise as a local councillor and always his cheerful smile. You will be sadly missed, David. Lots of great and humorous memories. Warm and caring thoughts to you, Debbie.

David will be so very missed by all of us who knew & loved him. He was an incredibly loving and caring man and brilliant businessman.
My heart breaks for you Debbie and for David´s family and close friends.
Many in Papakura knew David as an amazing teacher who got so much joy from setting up an amazing environment at KLC for kids to thrive in. Ours certainly did while there.
We´re forever never grateful for the time David spent one on one teaching our son Logan. He was one in a million and so humble with it.
RIP mate the world has lost one of life´s true gentlemen.

"Mr Wright" (David)

Thank you for inspiring and motivated me to achieve and explore.

Your special science group was the highlight of my school years.

You were one of very few teachers I trusted because you demonstrated vulnerability and honesty everyday.

I will not forget the personal effort you applied to making school life worthwhile, nor the crazy bus trip we took in the bus you arranged and drove. I will not forget the most valuable lesson - everything is possible, explorable.

My condolences to your family and loved ones. Will see you again, mate.

Our condolences to David's family and friends. Both my kids attended Karaka Learning Centre and have had the most amazing start to their education thanks to David's hard work creating the best preschool environment in NZ. Will always remember his smiles as he drove the kids around on the KLC train. RIP David. Xx.
