I´m so sad to hear of Dave´s passing tonight. I went online to see if he was still practicing law and got a sad surprise. I met Dave as a client when he showed me such gentle kindness and care in all my legal dealings with him. I could tell he was a South Islander as he was always very down to earth and genuine to me as his client and especially understanding of my stressful situation. Rest in peace Dave. You are one of the good men we love to remember.

We've only just heard this very sad news, two weeks too late, so we missed the funeral.

Dave and Sandy moved in across the road from us and Dave was then our lawyer for all family, trust and commercial matters.

A lovely man with a lovely family and we were blessed by Dave calling in on his way home when documents needed signing and he and Sandy had moved to Northcote.

A true gentleman and he will be sadly missed.

Our heartfelt condolences to Sandy and the family.

Hi Sandy & family
Sad to hear of Dave's passing. Be remembered as one of the genuine good guys. I first met Dave when he arrived as a 6th former to Campbell House/Otago Boys in 1965. He was a good athlete, would have to be growing up in Cromwell with the Colling & Clark families. Showed a good turn of pace as an outside back in rugby. Also flatted with Dave in the late 60s & early 70s in 533 Castle St & 28 Dundas St. My memory has it that his go to meal in those days was fish pie. Many happy memories of those times. Was good to catch up with Dave at the OBs year reunion in 2023. We know with the passing of time you will have many happy memories of a good guy.
We pass on our condolences to you and the family.

Dear Pasley family, I'm sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Grieving is such a hard path to tread. Remembering all the great times you had with him will help you to get you through.
I'll remember him as a fun loving, kind and generous man who loved a great joke. His laugh was infectious.
In 1973, taught me to do hill starts in Timaru in his wee light blue Morris minor.
Sending aroha to his family.
RIP Dave

Dear Uncle Dave,

Where do I begin? Lawyers are like doctors - they´re expensive, and you only truly need them when you're in a difficult situation.

We first really connected at Aunty Nan's funeral, and from that moment on, you became my lawyer and a trustee of my family trust.

You were a true professional, always with a genuine interest in finding a solution to every legal challenge I faced - and I had my fair share of them. But more than that, you cared about my welfare and about Mum and Dad´s welfare too. Mum sends her deepest sympathy to Sandy and the family from the rest home.

Uncle Dave, you were a good bugger. You were a steady presence in my life, and your kindness and expertise will be sorely missed.

Rest in peace, and thank you for everything.

With love and gratitude,

Robbie Pasley

Hi Sandy
Very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He and I started at OBHS together; good guy, met him there again about 18 months ago at the OB reunion.
I taught at Hoani Waititi for a few years, perhaps before you made your niche @ Baradene.
I think you may have worked with Joan, my sister, at Waitaki; there are links everywhere!

David and I both came from cromwell and we're class mates at Otago Boys. He had a super friendly personality and an excellent ability to listen to others. He also was an great sportsman and scholar. I would like to pass on my sincere condolences to his family.
