I am so sad to hear David passed in 2022. I have only just learned of his passing through a LinkedIn post honouring his legacy. I had the privilege of meeting David during my graduate programme at IAG in 2016 and he mentored our graduate group to prepare us for a business presentation. He was the catalyst for my involvement in Toastmasters, joining a community club and going on to establish a company club at IAG. I have never forgotten the moment I burst into tears when practicing for this business presentation as a young graduate, and the care and encouragement he showed me. I was inspired and empowered from our time with him. Thankyou David for that gift.

I am saddened to hear that David has passed away, just learned from browsing LinkedIn after a time "in the sticks" over Easter. I always enjoyed his personability and good humour, helped him pilot Torque, and hired him for a couple of conferences to give his classic presentations. He will be dearly missed by Toastmasters and clients in NZ and no doubt by family and close friends. R.I.P. David.

Mate, I can't believe you've left us, we've lost NZ's best orator. I'll never forget competing against you through a Toastmaster's Prepared Speech Regional comp. You'd heard me give my speech previously and before I went up to speak, you generously suggested a couple of tweaks that would improve my speech - and they did. I couldn't comprehend that kindness in a competitive situation. In truth, all you were doing was living the Toastmaster's values, a story I've shared many times. I lost to you in Wellington at the Nationals, but was so proud as you went on to win the World Championship and then do it again. It was such a thrill to compete against you one last time at a charity event, same result, you won with your mix of talent, humour and mischief! Dave you are the consummate professional but more importantly, you are a beautiful human being who will be greatly missed. Our heartfelt condolences to Julie, Jordan and Danielle from Jenny and I. RIP my friend.

I still cannot believe this very talented man has gone. He was an inspiration to all. I was lucky enough to have him as a Manager for a few years. He was the best.

Julie, Jordan and Danielle my thoughts are with you all. I enjoyed working with David over the years and he always talked about you all with such love and pride. A great man who I learned so much from - and laughed with him all the way through.

I always looked forward to David's speeches at the early morning Toastmasters club meetings at the Rose Gardens in Parnell over 20 years ago! We were all so thrilled when David became the 1996 World Toastmaster Champion. You've truly helped so many people (including some of my clients) in your business over the years. You will very much be missed.
