Dear Val. I didn't know Jim well but liked very much what I did. His reputation for good was a mighty one. We are all the losers by his death.
Very kindest wishes , Laurel Norwell

To Val, Andrew and families.
We have lost a very good friend indeed. Jim was a founder member of U3A Devonport and, together with Val, tirelessly gave time talent, & energy to ensure its long-term success. His efforts proved well worthwhile. That visionary start has since, and for many years, provided the older Devonport people with much interest and pleasure.
The Community Workshop too has good cause to be grateful for Jim's help. His advice when first we stumbled through the legal hurdles of becoming an Incorporated Society was greatly appreciated.
Bless you Jim & thank you so much Val for all the time you spent looking after Jim during his illness.

Dear Valerie
A very brief note to say that Margaret and I both
send you our deepest sympathy on Jim's death.
I realise that we go back a long way to that curious
establishment
always involved in interesting ventures. One time I
was supposed to be helping with transport for the
Canoe Club, fortunately it all came to nothing.
Growing old is quite foul enough without loosing
one's life partner. I find one needs them more and
more as time goes on. In fact ageing is a very peculiar
business for which I am ill prepared. These are strange
times that we live in
You will be in our thoughts and again our deepest
sympathy.
Sincerely,
Denys and Margaret
