Dear Maindonald family, our hearts are saddened to hear the news that your father and husband has passed away. David was such a dear friend and help to Sarah and me (Alan) when we needed to go to Melbourne. Glennis and David opened their home to us and were such a blessing in our time of need. We so enjoyed our visit in 2018 at their home in New Zealand.

Our prayers are with you as well as our heartache. We will look forward to a grand reunion one day as we know that David is with his Lord Jesus.

Blessings to you all.

Hello, I've been in the Asia Pacific office for 16-odd years. I didn't know David well, but the odd times we met, he inspired me as a man with great knowledge of Scripture and a passion to live by it.

I'm sorry to hear about David's departure, but very delighted with his 'promotion' to glory before the face of God. He will be missed.

I'm sorry I cannot attend the service today, as I'm in MIQ.

Dear Glenis Sorry Jean and I cannot be with you on the 22nd to celebrate the wonderful life of David. HCJB World Radio both in New Zealand and Australia would not be where they are now without the vision and input of David a true servant who stood fast to the vision God gave him. PTL

On behalf of the family - to all who were planning to be at the funeral or to watch the live stream (via Youtube) tomorrow, we regret that due to the Lockdown Level 3 restrictions coming in tonight, we are postponing the funeral till next Monday 22nd at 11:00 A.M. - at Milford Baptist Church.

In terms of my own memories of David, these extend back as far as 1984 when I courted eldest daughter Louise and we married in August. I ended up working with him when he bought Orewa Music Supplies until he sold it and I went teaching. He certainly was a 'man's man' and didn't brook fools readily. Yet at the same time he had a great sense of fun and I have been hearing funny family stories of the hijinks he used to get up to as a boy. He was larger than life in every way and will be much-missed by his children and grand-children. Photo of David with our eldest son (now 35) many moons ago!

A beacon of old-school Christianity in a world gone mad has gone away, but not out. My regret is that circumstances prevented us know David better. He lives on in his family.

We remember David’s involvement in HCJB and his passion and commitment to outreach through Christian radio!
We also will never forget David and Glenys’s generosity in doing a house and car swap round 1990 for 5 weeks. This meant a lot to us as a family and we’re sure Martin and Melanie have VERY fond memories of this time!!!

He has left a wonderful legacy!

My deepedt sympathy and condolencesto Daves family.I first met Dave as a soldier in Papakura camp, we were in the Signals unit as compulsory Millatarry Trainee as 19 year olds.He was in the next bed to me in the barrack room hut.
Dave was always admired for his courage and tenacity in reading his Bible in a hut full of other men, in fact he used to get down on his knees and say his prayers before getting into bed ,he would wink at me and say he had saad prayers for all 20 of us in the hut. I used to bring Dave home to Westren Springs on weekend leaves as I was the only one with a car in camp as I lived in Point Chevalier at the time along with an other who lived in the next street to me. He was heavanly in volved on The Youth for Christ movementI tried to contact Dave . but was not able to find him and now it is roo late
Rest in Peace Dave , may your God bless and Keep ,you.
Because of Blindness and other complications I wont be able to come and say goobye
Another of our comrades who now lives in Australia and had the bed oposite Dave , sends his best wishes and condolences
