David BURNS Obituary

I only heard about Dave's passing one year late. I briefly worked with Dave in Philippines but I got a great appreciation of his know how on those few days.

We were extremely saddened to hear the news of Dave's passing. Our memories of Dave will always be of a positive, kind and happy friend and neighbour who will be missed immensely. Rest peacefully Dave, you fought your battle courageously. Our thoughts and love go out to Carmen, Kathryn & Vinnie from the Marston family - Chris, Robyn, Leandra & Nathan.

Dave was one of the good guys - maybe the best of our little group. I'll never forget him struggling down the Havelock River, about 20km, heavy pack, feet sloshing around in boots full of blood, not a word of complaint. He was 18 years old. His quiet manner belied an incredible stoicism.Take it easy Davey,
Dave Matthews

David was an outstanding engineering geologist, and a highly valued colleague and friend to many in the New Zealand Geotechnical Society. He served as Chair from 2011 to 2013 and achieved life membership in recognition of his efforts on behalf of all members. David will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with his family.

Lots of memories working with David in the Tauranga office of MCB then Worley Consultants many years ago. A gentle person with a subtle sense of humour, such fun to be around. My thoughts go out to Carmen and the family at this sad time.

BURNS, David. A wonderful, funny, intelligent person we had the privilege to know and have as a friend . We have enjoyed meals together planned and prepared with care by Don and David your addition of Craft beer was always welcomed . Thanks for sharing the meal on the last day of 2017 , we just did not expect it to be our last together . We felt sure we would have many more time to share food, drink and laughter. To Carmen, Vinny and Katherine , it has been a tough few years with David's health but you have been amazing .
