BUCKINGHAM, David Anson. Born in Dunedin on 13 March 1936. Dad passed away having lived a full and colourful life in his beloved Wanaka on Thursday 11 September 2025, aged 89 years. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Nigel and Lee, Mark and Karen, and Anna. Loved grandad of Laura, Sam, Levi, Josh, Joel and Tom. Loved brother and brother-in- law of John (deceased) and Cherie, and uncle of Andrew and Warren. Professor Emeritus of Chemistry and former Head of the Chemistry Department at Otago University, Dad was a respected scientist and academic. His other passion was tennis. Life member of the Cosy Dell Tennis Club and Wanaka Tennis Club, Dad's passion was clear and obvious to anyone who knew him. While he loved to play tennis, his greatest joy was encouraging others to play, young and old. A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held later, details to be advised. The family would like to thank the wonderful caring staff at Ashlea Grove Rest Home in Milton, the staff at Dunedin Hospital and at Aspiring Care in Wanaka. It took some juggling, but he got his wish to be back in Wanaka for his final days. In lieu of flowers donations to Alzheimer's Otago, would be much appreciated. A unique and special person whose spirit lives on within his family and friends. Messages to 693 Aubrey Road, Wanaka 9305 or
