David AUBURN Obituary

AUBURN, David Anthony. On the 2nd October at Anne Maree Court Northcote, at the age of 78. David died peacefully after a short illness with Multi Myeloma compounding five year's difficulty with Alzheimer's. David was the much loved younger son of the late Walter and Lore Auburn, brother of Francis (deceased) and Susan. Dearly loved partner of thirty years of Sheridan Keith. David will be remembered with love by many of his friends and customers of his iconic antique shops, Generation Gap and latterly Auburn Antiques. A man of great charm and warmth, always ready to listen, respected for his knowledge and integrity as an antique dealer and for his kind heart, witty remarks and true sincerity. Cremation took place on 4th October. Correspondence to 130 Queen St, Northcote Point. 'A warm breeze arose, fragrant with all manner of things that give comfort; grass, sun, beer, quilts, cream- this list being different for each of us, each being differently comforted.' (Lincoln in the Bardo, George Saunders.) Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Anne Maree Court and Dils Funeral Services.

RIP Uncle David.
So sad I never had the chance to see you, or to say goodbye.
Thank you for the childhood memories and for taking great care of Nana.
God bless you both.

So very sad to read this. I remember David from childhood, Walter was our family doctor, such a kind man - as was his lovely wife Lore. They lived in Epsom. David had such a nice, comfortable energy.

Susan was more my age and also sweet and -who knew what they were at 11?- seemingly very shy. I´ve often wondered what happened to the family. To Susan. To David. And France´s. Now I know more.

So incredibly sorry for your great loss. This is an extraordinary story.

So saddened to learn belatedly that David had died over three years ago. David was a highly-valued member of the Auckland University Jazz Workshop, with whom he played alto saxophone. We played together in various groups and shared the stage in several musical events. Fortunately, I still have an amateur recording of a concert at a local art gallery where David gave an impassioned solo performance shortly before he emigrated to Denmark.

I was shocked and saddened to learn that my first cousin David had died over a year agio. We had lost contact, but I had hoped some day to visit New Zealand and see him again. We exhchanged letters several years ago, but he didn't seem to rememer me. Our Dads were brothers and David and I had a wonderful day together in Copenhagen Denmark in 1965, if I"m remembering correctlly. I loved David and always wished we lived closer together so we could share more of our lives,
